COURSE OVERVIEW

Are you interested in the Hairdressing Industry? Wanting to get a taste of what the industry involves without committing to a full qualification? Then this course is for you!

The Salon Assistant Skill Group has been designed as a pathway into the Hairdressing Industry.

Participants will gain skills and knowledge to create a pathway to becoming a Salon Assistant. These routine tasks are completed under direct supervision and with guidance from qualified hairdressers.

This training is delivered by an industry expert in a small and supportive group environment.

DURATION

This course is delivered over 14 sessions for 14 weeks.

Mixed mode delivery which includes classroom and self-paced learning.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

All students undertake a Language Literacy and Numeracy evaluation prior to enrolling with our LLN Robot assessment tool.

UNITS OF COMPETENCY

On completion of this short course, a Statement of Attainment for the following units will be issued:

ACCREDITED UNITS

  • SHBXCCS003 – Greet and prepare clients for salon services
  • SHBHCLS001 – Apply hair colours products
  • SHBHDES002 – Braid hair
  • FSKOCM03 – Participate in simple spoken interactions at work
  • FSKRDG07 – Read and respond to simple workplace information

Units from SHB20216 Certificate II in Salon Assistant
These accredited units are Nationally Recognised.

NON-ACCREDITED UNIT - 120503U – Provide shampoo & basin services

PATHWAYS

On completion of this short course, you may be able to undertake:

  • SHB20216 – Certificate II in Salon Assistant
  • SHB30416 – Certificate III in Hairdressing

CREDIT TRANSFER OR RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING

If you believe you have already undertaken any of this training, or have the current skills, please talk to your Trainer or Training Coordinator prior to course commencement. Credit transfer can only be applied by sighting organismal transcript of studies.
