COURSE OVERVIEW

This Bar Starter course has been designed to provide the licensing requirements, understanding and basic knowledge to commence work in the busy and exciting liquor and gaming industry.

Whether as a career or a casual second job, this training will allow the participant to take that first step into the industry.

PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE & INDUSTRY NETWORKING

This hands on training is delivered in a functioning kitchen and a licensed venue. This training involves both theory and practical components and is flexibly delivered.

This course allows the learner the opportunity to network with other trainees and industry throughout the learning experience, whilst gaining valuable practical skills which they can take into the workplace.

COURSE DELIVERY

This course can be delivered over 7 sessions for 4 weeks. Mixed mode delivery which can include practical and theory components.

UNITS OF COMPETENCY

On completion of this short course, a Statement of Attainment for the following units will be issued:

ACCREDITED UNITS

  • SITHFAB002 – Provide responsible service of alcohol
  • SITHGAM001 – Provide responsible gambling services
  • SITXFSA001 – Use hygienic practices for food safety
  • FSKOCM07 – Interact effectively with others at work
  • FSKNUM03 – Use whole numbers and money up to one thousand for work

Units from SIT20316 Certificate II in Hospitality
These accredited units are Nationally Recognised.

NON-ACCREDITED UNITS

  • 110109S – Basic coffee techniques
