COURSE OVERVIEW

This bar starter course has been designed to assist the participants to gain the licensing requirements and the base knowledge to increase employability in the busy, growing and exciting liquor and gaming industry. Students will gain an insight regarding the licensing around gaming and liquor as well as the basics to work within a licensed hospitality venue.

PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE & INDUSTRY NETWORKING

This hands on training is delivered in a functioning kitchen and a licensed venue. This face to face training involves both theory and practical components.

This course allows the learner the opportunity to network with other trainees and industry throughout the learning experience, whilst gaining valuable practical skills which they can take into the workplace.

COURSE DELIVERY

This course can be delivered over 10 sessions for 10 weeks. Mixed mode delivery which can include practical and theory components.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS - Students must be 18 years or older to attain their RSA and/or RCG competency card, and to serve, sell or supply alcohol and work in a gaming area of a licensed venue - Students holding a current RSA and/or RCG, or whose competency card is within 28 days of expiry, cannot enrol in units SITHFAB002 or SITHGAM001 Students should refer to www.liquorandgaming.nsw.gov.au for further information.

UNITS OF COMPETENCY

On successful completion of this short course, a Statement of Attainment for the following units will be issued:

ACCREDITED UNITS

  • SITHFAB002 – Provide responsible service of alcohol
  • SITHGAM001 – Provide responsible gambling services
  • SITXFSA001 – Use hygienic practices for food safety
  • FSKOCM07 – Interact effectively with others at work
  • SITHFAB001 – Clean and tidy bar areas

Units from SIT20316 Certificate II in Hospitality
These accredited units are Nationally Recognised.

NON-ACCREDITED UNITS

  • 120503T – Money handling in the workplace

PATHWAYS

On completion of this short course, you may be able to undertake:

  • SIT20316 – Certificate II in Hospitality
  • SIT30616 – Certificate III in Hospitality
