Cafe Skill Group

COURSE OVERVIEW

This cafe skill group aims to give participants the practical key skills to be able to work within the vibrant cafe and hospitality trade.

Participants, upon completion of this course will have the ability to handle food in a hygienic and safe manner, interact with customers, prepare and serve a range of beverages sold within a cafe, prepare and present a range of sandwiches as well as learning basic coffee techniques which is a key element of working within the cafe industry.

With these newly obtained skills students can choose to continue studies and enrol into a Certificate II or III in Hospitality or to seek employment within this thriving, growing and ever evolving industry. Employment opportunities may include but are not limited to waitressing, cafe assistant and kitchen hand.

PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE & INDUSTRY NETWORKING

This course allows the learner to engage with other trainees and industrty experts throughout the face to face training sesisons. Students will complete practial, hands on sesisons in as actual hospitality simulated work enrivonment with the guidance of an industry expert trainer.

COURSE DELIVERY

This course is delivered over 12 sessions for 12 weeks. Mixed mode delivery which can includes practical and theory.

On successful completion of this short course, a Statement of Attainment for the following units will be issued:

ACCREDITED UNITS

  • SITXFSA001 – Use hygienic practices for food safety
  • SITHFAB004 – Prepare and serve non-alcoholic beverages
  • SITHCCC003 – Prepare and present sandwiches
  • FSKOCM07 – Interact effectively with others at work
  • SITXWHS001 – Participate in safe work practices

Units from SIT20316 Certificate II in Hospitality
These accredited units are Nationally Recognised.

NON-ACCREDITED UNITS

  • 110109S – Basic coffee tecnhiques
