Espresso and Beverage Basics

COURSE OVERVIEW

Learn the fundamental and essential skills for making beverages within a café environment. This short and engaging course will give you the key skills to be able to create a variety of beverages including: espresso coffee, milkshakes, thick shakes, juices, mocktails, smoothies and frappes.

Training will also cover the required skills to work safely and hygienically in a hospitality environment, money handling and basic point of sales operations, customer service skills and how to work as part of an effective and interactive team.

PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE & INDUSTRY NETWORKING

This hands on training is delivered in a functioning kitchen. This face to face training involves both theory and practical components.

This course allows the learner the opportunity to network with other trainees and industry throughout the learning experience, whilst gaining valuable practical skills which they can take into the workplace.

COURSE DELIVERY

This course can be delivered over 8 sessions for 5 weeks. Mixed mode delivery which can include practical and theory components.

On successful completion of this short course, a Statement of Attainment for the following units will be issued:

ACCREDITED UNITS

  • SITXFSA001 – Use Hygenic practices for food safety
  • SITHFAB004 – Prepare and serve non-alcoholic beverages
  • FSKOCM07 – Interact effectivly with others at work
  • FSKNUM09 – Identify, measure and estimate familiar quantities for work

These accredited units are Nationally Recognised.

NON-ACCREDITED UNITS

  • 120503T – Money handling in the workplace
  • 110109S – Espresso coffee
