COURSE OVERVIEW

Are you looking to enter the workforce? Are you wanting to gain practical café skills? Then this course is for you.

This course will give you the competitive edge as you learn food and beverage services including hygienic practices for food safety. New skills such as setting up, operating, maintaining, and cleaning coffee equipment including the espresso machine and grinder will also be gained throughout this course.

This course provides a pathway to work in organisations such as restaurants, hotels, motels, resorts, clubs, pubs, cafes and coffee shops and is a good foundation into the hospitality industry.

DURATION

This course is held 2 days a week for 8 weeks.

This training requires at self-directed learning each week as stipulated by trainer

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Student must complete a basic Language literacy and numeracy assessment prior to enrolment.

Participants undertaking this course must complete the unit SITXFSA001 – Use hygienic practices for food safety as a pre-requisite to the following unit:

SITHFAB004- Prepare and serve non-alcoholic beverages
SITHCCC003 Prepare and present sandwiches

Concessions & eligibility criteria apply. This training is subsidised by the NSW Government. Limited places are available.

Student Fee: $595.00. Payable prior to course commencement for ineligible students.

UNITS OF COMPETENCY

On completion of this short course, a Statement of Attainment for the following units will be issued:

ACCREDITED UNITS

SITXFSA001 Use hygienic practices for food safety
SITHFAB004 Prepare and serve non-alcoholic beverages
SITHCCC003 Prepare and present sandwiches

Units from SIT30616 Certificate III in Hospitality
These accredited units are Nationally Recognised.

NON ACCREDITED UNITS

110109A Basic coffee techniques
110109B Cafe skill techniques

PATHWAYS

On completion of this short course, you may be able to undertake:

  • SIT20316 – Certificate II in Hospitality
  • SIT30616 – Certificate III in Hospitality

If you believe you have already undertaken any of this training, or have the current skills, please talk to your Trainer or Training Coordinator prior to course commencement. Credit transfer can only be applied by sighting original transcript of studies.
