COURSE OVERVIEW

This skill set has been designed to provide participants with the base skills and accreditation required to work as a support worker in the National Disability Insurance Scheme sector. You will learn the basic skills required to work in the care industry.
Topics include:
The guidelines for the prevention and control of infection
Types of precautions and their relevance to work or client groups
State legislation and how it impacts on workplace regulations, codes of practice and industry standards
Safety considerations when working in a home-based environment
Ethical decision making and conflicts of interest
Principles of effective communication

DURATION

This course is held Monday – Thursday for 18 days.
Time: 9:30am to 4:00pm

Mixed mode delivery including ZOOM sessions, face to face classroom, self-directed learning, and 15 hours of work placement assessment.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

All students undertake a Language Literacy and Numeracy evaluation prior to enrolling with our LLN Robot assessment tool.

Screening requirements for the aged care and disability sectors vary however common requirements include- National Police Check, Working with Children’s Check and mandated vaccine requirements have been issued by the Australian Government in some industries.
