PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR TUTORS
This is the first of what will be regular updates from Riverina Community College for our tutors. It is our intent to update you on events, opportunities and openings for tutors (whether you offer accredited or unaccredited training) and, in particular, to alert you to professional development days or events that we will be offering. These are free events and open to anyone who is already teaching with us as well as anyone wishing to do so.
TAE Upgrades.
As you are probably aware, anyone with the TAA qualification has until June this year to upgrade to the new TAE qualification. There is a rush to upgrade in time and we would encourage anyone who still hasn’t rolled their old qualification over to the new one to contact us. We are offering free training to upgrade to anyone who regularly tutors with us.
Contact Jeff Gunns for more information on 69335514 or email Jeff on
Professional Development.
These events are mandatory for anyone who tutors accredited courses with us regularly. If you have not already been contacted about this then please get in touch with our VET department as soon as possible.
We will try our best to offer choices in terms of days and times but continuous improvement and ongoing professional development is very much required by our regulatory body (ASQA) and is going to be a regular feature element in these newsletters.
Our next professional development days are:
Wednesday 17th April, from 3.00 PM to 9.00 PM OR
Friday 19th April from 9.00 AM to 3.00 PM
The sessions will focus on compliance, assessment, assessment validation and training plans (for tutoring of VET courses). Please email Tony McBride and advise which session you will be attending on
Tour of the College.
For those who haven’t heard from us for a while and haven’t seen our upgraded facilities or would like simply to drop by and have a friendly introduction to the college we have regular coffee mornings for anyone interested in facilitating with us. The next coffee morning will be Thursday 9th May at 10.00 AM and will last about one hour. Please call Nicole Harpley for more information on 6933 5589 or email Nicole on
Brochure.
The brochure for our upcoming term is attached and contains information on all our upcoming courses. Feel free to have a look through it to get a sense of what we deliver.
