SHB30416 - Certificate III Hairdressing



The SHB30416 Certificate III in Hairdressing reflects the role of hairdressers who use a range of well-developed sales, consultation and technical skills and knowledge to provide a broad range of hairdressing services to clients.

This qualification provides a pathway to work as a hairdresser in any industry environment, usually a salon.


This course is delivered over 128 sessions with 12 hours per week face to face training.

Up to 328 hours of self-paced learning at home is required to complete course, 30 hours of industry work experience must be completed in a salon environment.


This course is subsidised by the NSW Government for eligible students

  • Student contributions are applicable and range from $2,130 to $2,550
  • Concession contribution to eligible students $240

Full course cost: $10,750

REQUIRED extra – students will be required to purchase a uniform - $50 upon enrolment.

OPTIONAL extra – students can purchase their own hairdressing kit to keep which will include all the equipment required to complete a SHB30416 Certificate III in Hairdressing. Please ask the Training Coordinator for a list of these inclusions – Kit cost $830

  • Cut hair using over-comb techniques (SHBHCUT005)
  • Create graduated haircut structures (SHBHCUT003)
  • Conduct salon financial transactions (SHBXCCS001)
  • Participate in environmentally sustainable work practices (BSBSUS201)
  • Provide salon services to clients (SHBXCCS002)
  • Create finished hair designs (SHBHDES003)
  • Neutralise unwanted colours and tones (SHBHCLS004)
  • Create combined haircut structures (SHBHCUT006)
