This qualification reflects the role of support workers who complete specialised tasks and functions in aged services; either in residential, home or community based environments. Workers will take responsibility for their own outputs within defined organisation guidelines and maintain quality service delivery through the development, facilitation and review of individualised service planning and delivery.

Workers may be required to demonstrate leadership and have limited responsibility for the organisation and the quantity and quality of outputs of others within limited parameters.

Mandatory work placement of 120 hours must be completed with an aged care residential facility.

Students are required to undertake a language, literacy and numeracy assessment and face to face interview prior to enrolment.

A current Police Check and Working with Children Check is required prior to commencement of work placement which is payable by student. Student may (depending on work placement host) be required to complete immunity screening prior to being accepted to a work placement host. Any boosters or vaccinations required by the student will be at their own cost.

To successfully complete HLTAID011, students must be capable of performing at least 2 minutes (5 cycles) of uninterrupted single rescuer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on an adult resuscitation mannequin placed on the floor.
